As our team is expanding, we are looking to hire a Head of Depositary.

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Head of Depositary Function to lead and oversee the firm’s depositary activities.
This is a senior control role with responsibility for ensuring the effective operation of the Depositary Function in line with applicable regulatory, legal, and internal requirements.
The successful candidate will be responsible for providing independent oversight of fund operations, safeguarding of assets, and monitoring of cash flows, while ensuring that robust policies, procedures, and controls are maintained. The role involves close interaction with fund managers, regulators, auditors, and internal stakeholders, and plays a key part in protecting investors’ interests and supporting the firm’s governance framework.

This position is ideal for a professional with strong regulatory knowledge, CySEC Advanced, proven leadership skills, and the ability to operate with independence and integrity in a regulated environment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensure that the company, as depositary, acts honestly, fairly, professionally, and in the best interest of the AIF, and its investors.
  • Ensure all actions taken by the depositary are aligned with the investment strategy and regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee the safekeeping and custody of all AIF assets, ensuring compliance with the legal framework.
  • Verify the ownership of the AIF’s assets and ensure they are properly recorded.
  • Monitor third-party custodians to ensure safekeeping obligations are met.
  • Perform regular reconciliations to identify and escalate any discrepancies.
  • Ensure accurate monitoring of cash flows, and a proper processing of all payments, receipts and disbursements.
  • Validate that investor subscriptions, redemptions, and other cash movements comply with the AIF’s policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Verifying the net asset valuation calculations for the AIF.
  • Ensure compliance with the AIF Law, AIFM Law and other relevant regulations.
  • Stay updated on amendments to AIF-related lega; and regulatory frameworks.
  • Ensure the regulatory reporting to authorities is performed timely and accurately.
  • Ensure the internal depositary policies are aligned with current regulatory or operational changes.
  • Oversee the AIF’s investment activities, ensuring they align with the AIF’s stated investment policy and rules.
  • Accounting and reporting of transactions with securities and derivatives: equities, bonds (including Eurobonds), ETF’s, ADR’s,/GDR’s; FX (spot, forwards, swaps, options, futures); indices, commodities, OTC derivatives, structured products; custodial operations; REPO, margin and clearing operations.
  • Monitoring the accuracy of transaction recording, FX revaluation, interest and fee accruals.
  • Preparation of reports for the CySEC & Central Bank of Cyprus.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

  • Strong regulatory knowledge of AIFMD, UCITS, and other relevant depositary regulations.
  • CySEC Advance & AML Registry members
  • Proven experience in a depositary, custody, or fund oversight role, preferably in a senior or leadership position.
  • Deep understanding of fund operations, including asset safekeeping, cash monitoring, NAV calculation, and compliance controls.
  • Excellent risk management and analytical skills, with the ability to identify, escalate, and mitigate risks effectively.
  • Leadership and people management experience, capable of leading a team and fostering a culture of compliance and accountability.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, able to engage confidently with regulators, auditors, fund managers, and internal teams.
  • High integrity, independence, and judgment, ensuring that investor protection and regulatory compliance are always prioritized.
  • Proficiency in English and Russian (Greek is an advantage).
